Ultra running, sports and martial arts as a means for your own mental, spiritual and physical vitality.

 

“Why the hell are you going to run 500km?” is often the first comment I hear from outsiders. Most people have absolutely no idea about this. Yet such a distance is more accessible than you think. For me, the distance is just an afterthought.

It never ceases to amaze me how much our body can handle! After hours and hours of toiling or even running for two whole nights without sleep, there suddenly comes a long period when it feels as if you have just started fresh. There are so many parallels in this that you can apply in daily life: you learn to deal with stress and how to control stress, your energy, to deal with setbacks, to determine your own limits and your possibilities.

 

I use ultra-running (any distance beyond a marathon) as a means to help myself and others and even achieve a physical, emotional or mental breakthrough. Your head, heart and body have to constantly consult with each other. You will never forget an “aha” moment, which occurs more easily in such circumstances.

 

For me applies: The topics you teach about, are the topics you need to learn the most in yourself.

I would like to share this with you and I will take you figuratively or literally on a journey, by working with (combat) sports for 6 weeks with the above principles, by responsibly taking a (half ) to run a marathon, or lead you to a final run of 70 km in one piece while quietly enjoying the nature around you. This is all much more accessible than you thought!

 

I run 500km because I can. Life is very simple for a while: you just have to go step by step from point A to B, with great lows, hallucinations, deepening self-insight, highs, intense friendship with people you have never met before, discoveries in nature, further fine-tuning of feeling your own body. Once I have finished, I will continue to enjoy it for a year soon, I have not yet managed to do that with a holiday!

 

I am looking for individuals, groups or companies who are inspired by this and want to gain similar experiences and get started. Or maybe you know someone for whom this could be good. Let me know!
